AP-11 + SmartAlign

The AP-11 + SmartAlign bundle pairs the AP-11 equatorial mount with the motorized SmartAlign Module, turning precise polar alignment into an almost fully automatic step.

At the heart of the bundle is the AP-11, a compact equatorial mount weighing just 1.6 kg and designed to carry astrophotography setups up to 5 kg. Both axes feature a high 1:375 reduction ratio and oversized NEMA 17 motors, combining portability with a robust drive system for precise tracking and motion control.

The SmartAlign Module sits under the mount: you place the AP-11 directly on top and connect it with a single cable. When you start a Three Point Polar Alignment (TPPA) routine in N.I.N.A., the system determines the polar alignment error and automatically adjusts the physical position of the entire mount in both azimuth and altitude, correcting until sub-arcminute accuracy is achieved.

Instead of manually turning adjustment knobs and repeatedly checking the alignment error, the SmartAlign Module knows exactly how much and in which direction it needs to move. For a completely portable setup, you can also use the dedicated AP-11 app for iOS and Android, which uses your smartphone's built-in compass to point the mount toward the celestial pole — no computer required.
