The SmartAlign Module is a motorized polar alignment system designed specifically for the AP-11, making precise polar alignment almost completely automatic.
The concept is simple: you place your AP-11 directly on top of the SmartAlign Module and connect it to the mount using a single cable.
When you start a Three Point Polar Alignment (TPPA) routine in N.I.N.A., the system determines the polar alignment error and the SmartAlign Module automatically adjusts the physical position of the entire mount in both azimuth and altitude, correcting the error until sub-arcminute polar alignment accuracy is achieved.
Instead of manually turning adjustment knobs and repeatedly checking the alignment error, the SmartAlign Module knows exactly how much and in which direction it needs to move.
For a completely portable setup, you can also use the dedicated AP-11 app for iOS and Android. In this mode, the system uses your smartphone's built-in compass to determine the direction of North, allowing the SmartAlign Module to automatically position the AP-11 toward the celestial pole without requiring a computer-based imaging setup.
